CLAZER FEATURED ON VIVEPORT ! September 12, 2017 By Chip Northrup Leave a Comment VIVE is featuring CLAZER on VIVEPORT ! VIVEPORT is the best of the best available on Steam VR – not necessarily the most popular games – but the most realistic uses of VR We submitted CLAZER for VivePort and they not only accepted it, but decided to feature it – for free This is a huge validation of CLAZER as a useful simulator – which was our goal. When it first came out, CLAZER got flamed by … [Read more...]

VALVE STEAM VR Should Buy VIVE From HTC
VALVE Should Buy VIVE August 28, 2017 By Chip Northrup Leave a Comment (Edit) HTC, the Taiwanese phone manufacturer is looking to spin off its profitable VIVE VR division, and VALVE, who has written the operating software for VIVE, should buy it and let HTC manufacture the hardware – which works fine – under contract, like they do Google’s phone. That would greatly streamline the on-going development of VIVE since it would evolve in-house, at VALVE, whose Steam VR division sells … [Read more...]
Samsung Approves CLAZER !
We have finally gotten approval to launch CLAZER for the Samsung Gear VR headset ! Should be online next month. Good news is that CLAZER has evolved substantially since we first submitted it and is still evolving. Obviously, you play the Samsung rig with an XBox or the buttons on the headset- not a hand or gun controller. But you get all the leads and trajectories to practice = plus it's really inexpensive and is visually excellent. With that on final approach, we are focusing on … [Read more...]

Virtual Reality Game Controller for Real Guns
Or real replica guns such as the Red Guns shown below with our pre-production prototypes attached to them. Works great in Steam VR with the HTC Vive Tracker attached. Most game functions accessed by shooting a laser at the User Interface Other game controls are on the Vive hand controller. Red Guns are weighted, correct dimensions and I am using them to demo since they are easier to get into office buildings, hotels and convention centers. A big hit thus far, even with non 12 year … [Read more...]

CLAZER + RED GUN Take Firearms Training into the 21st Century
Only 17 years late. Red Gun (ASP) was kind enough to furnish us with a Red Gun replica Remington 870 shotgun and a Beretta 96M to serve as realistic platforms for our pre-production VR gun controller, shown below at the Scholastic Clay Nationals. Glitch was that the pressure switch sourced from BeamShot was a bit short and pulled away from the velcro on the receiver, which proved problematic for some of the two- handed shooters at the demo. Glitches aside, CLAZER was a big hit among … [Read more...]
Most FPS Video Games Will NOT Make You a Better Shooter !
Most 3D games and almost all 2D games won’t make you better because they will be misleading - they will make you worse with most real guns. The sight picture may be wrong, the scale of target image to the gun may be wrong, they will not take “forward allowance” on a moving target into consideration, you will lose all binocular vision - “depth perception” (in 2D) and the controller will probably be ergonomically incorrect in relation to your head position. If the game relies on a visible laser … [Read more...]
